Overview
The Community Fire Protection District Fire Marshal’s Office strives on the goal of minimizing the risk of life & property loss from fire. By enforcing an adopted fire code (International Fire Code [IFC], 2021 ed.), building code (International Building Code [IBC], 2021 ed.) & related standards, hazardous conditions can be eliminated or controlled before a fire occurs.
It is our responsibility to work with the community in providing fire safety inspections, attend meetings with business owners & contractors, and handle any fire/life safety requests or complaints from the public. The Fire Marshal’s office is also charged with performing fire origin and cause determination of fires within the district. We are here for your assistance and as a resource to the community.

Primary Duties
Perform fire inspections; plan review; and fire system final acceptance tests.
Inspect interiors and exteriors of commercial, industrial, and other buildings to detect fire hazards; efficiency of fire protective equipment; and adequacy of fire escapes and exits.
Inform and discuss conditions of building storage and equipment with owner or manager and make recommendations regarding unsafe conditions.
Issue official notices for fire code violations and work with the community, building/business owner(s), or manager in correcting such violations.
Assist/conduct fire prevention programs and public education at public buildings; commercial businesses for employees, and school fire drills for school districts.
Review, monitor; and verify code-compliance for the final building occupancy for all new
construction and fire protection systems in CFPD’s jurisdiction.Ensure compliance with all adopted fire code requirements and NFPA standards; provide technical assistance to architects, designers, contractors, and fire department personnel.

The Community Fire Protection District requires permit applications be completed, submitted, and approved for any commercial construction project as well as any new business prior to occupying any building or building space. The District does not require occupancy or building permits for one and two family dwellings.
